Cave Head - Cave Head EP (2015)
At ~18 minutes of alternative hard rock with a light stoner touch, this self-titled EP marks the first release from Denmark's own Cave Head. They pull the matching band/release/track name hat trick with the first track, keep the energy up with "Lash Out", and then "It's A Driving My Car Kinda Song" shows up to shift things in a fuzzier direction. Hard beats and a steady revving from the guitar gel around the black-top lyrics to perfectly fit the title, with break-downs keeping things interesting.
Lastly, "Gone" doubles up the EP's average song length for a long ride on the main riff. Unfortunately, it starts flirting with ballad territory, which leaves the EP with a little bit of a sour aftertaste. Aside from that, though, it's an enjoyable enough pack of casual grooves, with Cave Head showing promise as they keep going and toughen up along the way.
